I am learning to predict, talk about the characters, the plot and the setting, and to recognise compound words.

Recount Writing

I am learning to write a recount about my experiences.

• sequence my ideas
• add details
• use time words like first, later, next, after that, etc
• use capital letters and full stops

Counting Money and Giving Change

I am learning to recognise the value of NZ coins and to add, total and give change.



It was easy for me to do.  I need harder ones to add up.  I could use more money to do.

I am learning to retell the main parts of a story accurately.



It was hard for me.  The words are hard but I found them.  I had to look at the book.

I agree this was a tricky task for you Lorenzo.  The book had some quite difficult words.  It was a good idea to check the text carefully to work out the main ideas.

I am learning to identify, name and sort a range of 2D shapes according to their attributes: (number of sides, corners, parallel lines, curves, size and shape, etc.)

Describing a Storm

I am learning to describe a storm using my senses.

To be successful, I will choose interesting words to describe what I can see, hear and feel during a storm.

Visual Art: Geometric Shape Art

I have been learning to observe and compare the works of other artists and to create my own art work using geometric shapes.

To be successful I needed to look at the works of Klee, Matisse and Kandinsky (right) and cut a range of shapes in different sizes and place them carefully to create my own masterpiece. (left)

"First I wrote all the words that start with the 'l' sound, then I wrote a sentence. It was tricky, but it was fun."

Adding Numbers

I am learning that numbers can look different but still equal the same amount.

“I have 4 in the top and 4 in the bottom because they make 8.”

I have been learning to swim with my head in the water.  It was a bit tricky to start with, but I am getting better.

My Family

My Family

My family is from Chile and Uruguay.  There are 3 people in my family.  We like going to the pool.  We eat on the table with Grandma. Lorenzo March 2016

In writing I have been writing about my family.  I have been learning to use capital letters and full stops in the right places.

I enjoyed writing about my family but I found it hard to remember to use capital letters properly.
